Kaikai Local, Kaikai Healthy Program


Feeding program (Day students: Lunch, Boarding students: Breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Status: Ongoing, self-sustained by school


Reach: 1 day and boarding school. Day students Monday - Friday, Boarding students Monday - Sunday during the school year.

School level: Secondary


Program goals:

  • To utilise local foods to reduce food waste 

  • Encourage healthy eating and support local farmers


Originally managed by INAC (indigenous Ni-Vanuatu agro-industry council), now managed by the school council.


 

Baldwin Lonsdale Memorial School and Ambaebulu Junior Secondary School farm to school feeding programs

Started: 2019

Status: Ongoing


Reach: 2 schools, during the school year

School level: Unknown


Program goals:

  • Creating and supporting a supply chain of vegetables, fish and eggs to schools 

  • Indirectly support schools with supply of food throughout the year


The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) is working in partnership with Sustainable Agriculture Pro (STAP) Vanuatu, Vanuatu Skills for Partnership (VSP) and local farmers for this program.
